How was the BBVA Stadium built? Monterrey Soccer Club's Sports Venue
15/1/2024
For 14 months, 500 people from GP Construcción were responsible for the construction of the venue of great passions, for more than 51,800 Mexican soccer spectators. GP Construcción contributed in the construction of such an important project; it was responsible for 40,000 m2 of civil works and masonry, an avant-garde construction, where the biggest construction challenge was the realization of the 70 tripods of elliptical and Siamese shape in its base and truncated cone in its height, made of apparent concrete on site, which required about 2,000 castings; where the required accuracy was very precise to receive the steel structure that covers the enclosure.
A stadium with sustainable design
The BBVA Stadium, also known as BBVA Bancomer Stadium, was built under LEED construction parameters, obtaining LEED SILVER certification for actions such as:
- Strict control of dust emissions.
- Use of materials from the region during construction that complied with quality and provenance certification.
- Waste management through companies specialized in environmental control.
- Equipment in optimal conditions to avoid leaks during operation.
The asymmetrical shape of the stadium frames an impressive view of the Cerro de la Silla.
Managed with BIM methodology
A project as complete as this one, with so many people contributing to its construction, had to be done in a coordinated and well communicated way with the offices in New York, Mexico and Nuevo Leon; therefore, the BIM (Building Information Modeling) platform and the REVIT program were used to optimally manage the schedule, costs and quantity of materials, among other things.
