Corporate Integrity 500: IC500

The IC500 is a joint initiative against corruption, impunity and Mexican transparency. It reviews the presence and quality of integrity and anti-corruption policies in "The 500 most important companies in Mexico".

The maximum score is 100 points and the average of the 500 companies was 74.13, which represents an increase of 1.5 points with respect to 2022 and more than double the first year in which the initiative was carried out, 2017. In addition, 228 companies scored over 90 points, representing 46% of the 500, a significant number for the country on the subject.

The IC500 evaluates the integrity and anti-corruption of the 500 most important companies in Mexico.
The IC500 evaluates the integrity and anti-corruption of the 500 most important companies in Mexico.

The IC500 methodology used is TRAC: Transparency in Reporting Anti-Corruption and reviews five thematic components:

  1. Declaration of principles: The public commitments assumed are expressed, considering the presence of integrity policies, the declaration of zero tolerance with corruption and the express prohibition of bribes.
  1. Training and outreach: Consider disseminating the values of the mission statement to all staff, and assess whether or not there is a training program.
  1. Availability of information: If access to policies is public and easy to obtain for employees and society, in addition to being in Spanish and in a site for Mexico, points are awarded to the company.
  1. Relations with third parties: To validate transparency, the organization's rules for relating with other entities such as customers, suppliers, public officials or government and its stakeholders are evaluated.
  1. Whistleblower system: This component verifies the presence of minimum conditions for internal reporting, clear sanctions and guarantees of confidentiality and retaliation.
